Dual function design.
For safe test-firing without weakening or possibly damaging the guns firing pin, and then the wool mops help lubricated the chamber whilst preventing oil running down the barrels to the stock.
They are threaded for USA shotgun barrel rod mop fittings, so you can replace the mops when needed, or use without the mops fitted.
