The PE/PEM, was Soviet ERA manufactured since 1940, and originally designed for the SVT-40 rifle, and since 1942 on the Mosin–Nagant rifle.

The Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 sniper rifles later converted to the 3.5x21 PU scopes.

Magnification ~ 3.5x.

Mono tube diameter ~ 21mm.

Objective lens diameter ~ 26mm.
Ocular lens diameter ~ 29mm.

Scope length ~ 173mm.
Overall height ~ 100mm.

Weight with mount ~ 610 grams.

INSTALLATION GUIDE:

In order to mount a PU scope to a Mosin Nagant rifle, it is necessary to drill and tap mounting holes on the rifle stock, unless already done.

A bent handle is also required, as a straight handle bolt will not clear the PU scope.

Therefore it is highly recommended to have both the receiver and the PU scope installed by a professional gunsmith.

Unload the weapon.

Remove the bolt and firing pin to ensure the weapon is incapable of firing.

Loosen the top and bottom elevation adjustment screws and the thumb screw on the receiver.

Install the PU scope mount onto the receiver.

Tighten the top and bottom elevation adjustment screws and the thumb screw to ensure the scope is in a fixed position.

Check the crosshair alignment.

It might be necessary to loosen the scope ring screws, and also gently pry the rings open with a flat headed screw driver, in order to rotate the PU scope.

Once the crosshair is perpendicular, re-tighten the scope rings screws.
