It simply slips of the scope to protect is for poor weather and when placed in storage.

Heavy-duty neoprene boot / hood.
The neoprene can be washed by hand with mild soapy water and then laid flat to dry.
Neoprene has a 5% moisture absorbency, which helps to take moisture away from the scope to protect it from corrosion.
They can be adapted to fit shorter scopes, but please consider that the larger the diameter of the scope lens ends, they shorter overall length the cover will fit, and vice versa.
